Sub-sub-series consists of files from the portion of the 5000 file block transferred to the National Archives which bear no special security classification. Most of the records are dated from 1966 to 1977, but there are a few files of earlier and later date. Volumes 1099 to 1100 contain information pamphlets, administrative evaluation reports, and correspondence on candidates examination potential and performance. These records cover topics such as examination site location, candidates, past performance, linguistic abilities, document certification, and medical credentials in Quebec. The Employment and Immigration Commission (CEIC) and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) are responsible for jointly coordinating and administering the foreign medical evaluation examinations required to practice medicine in Canada. Canadian provinces are responsible for licensing physicians to practice medicine within their boundaries. The provinces have, in turn, delegated this responsibility to provincial medical councils coordinated by the above national body. The MCC, established in 1912 by authority of the Canada Medical Act, sets and administers the foreign medical evaluation examinations in cooperation with CEIC which is responsible for monitoring and matching immigration flow with Canadian provinces labour market needs.
