Portée et contenu

Series consists of an album of 54 watercolours and a pen and ink drawing by Henry Hugh Manvers Percy, depicting scenes of and around Québec City, Montréal and the northeastern United States. These works were done during the period of Percy's posting to North America during the Lower Canada Rebellions. Other watercolours are three works by F.J. Lanberex. Prints by unknown artists depict: a farmyard scene; a working drawing of the British Crown; Vollard map; Prince Rupert first governor of the company; the first sale of furs at Garraway's Coffee House, London, 1671. Other prints include: a portrait of François Laval de Montmorency by J.H.L. Hyatt; Quebec Loyal Artificers by Sir James Hope-Wallace and John V. Kirkland; Quebec Volunteer Calvary uniform by Sir James Hope-Wallace and John V. Kirkland; The Taking of Quebec, work after an original print by Laurie Whittle; portrait of Henry Bathurst, Third Earl of Bathurst (1762-1834) by John William Wright and engraved by Henry H. Meyer; the Granting of the Royal Charter by King Charles II, in 1670 by E. Cox; work entitled "Of all national assets, Archives are the most precious, Arthur G. Doughty". Other artistic material consists of a drawing of a farmer ploughing with an ox by an unknown artist as well as a portrait of Vivian Tremaine by Kathleen Shackleton. Also included are miscellaneous pictures, newspaper clippings and notes form the papers of Sir Arthur George Doughty.
