Portée et contenu
Fonds consists of silent and sound films including documentaries on Bishop Donald Marsh and his expeditions in the Arctic, and on life among the Inuit. Also included is a short documentary film entitled Oolaryoo, about a Christian Inuit girl. Also included in fonds are photographs depicting Inuit life in and around Baffin Island, Arctic Bay, Eskimo Point, Whale Cove, Spence Bay, Tuktoyaktuk, and other locations in the Canadian Arctic. Biographie / Histoire administrative
Donald Benjamin Marsh was born in Enfield, Middlesex, England in 1903. Marsh served as an Anglican Bishop in the North West Territories between 1926 and 1950. In addition to his clerical work, Marsh was also an amateur photographer. His work was published in several periodicals including The Beaver, Sports Afield, and Popular Photography. Marsh died 5 February 1973 in London, England.
