This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Series consists of a numbered group (1 to 269) of papers produced or collected by members of the working party and their staff on various aspects of income maintenance policy at both federal and provincial levels. Biographie / Histoire administrative
The Working Party on Income Maintenance was one of several groups with research and secretariat responsibilities created to carry out the Federal-Provincial Social Security Review instituted by the federal-provincial conference of welfare ministers in April 1973. The working party's mandate was to collect information for, and to brief, the Deputy Ministers' Continuing Committee on Social Security (the body primarily responsible for the review) on the subject of income support and supplementation. Its membership included one representative from the welfare ministries of each of the ten provinces, chaired by the delegate from the federal Department of National Health and Welfare.
