This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Series consists of ocean shipping tariff records created and/or maintained by the Transportation Services Branch and not maintained in the departmental central registry. Tariffs or freight rates for ocean shipping were established at conferences of major shipping companies and were not matters of international agreement. The records in this series, held by the department for reference purposes, represents tariffs in effect around the world for thirty years. Port of origin, destination, type of freight and other factors which would affect the rate appear on each tariff.

Biographie / Histoire administrative
Initially known as the Aerospace, Marine and Rail Branch (1969-1971), the Transportation Industries Branch, operated with specific divisions (i.e. rail, marine, aerospace ,etc.) from 1971 to1981. The branch was split into the Surface Transportation Branch and Aerospace and Marine Branch in 1981.
