In 1978, he began his collaboration with writer-composer-performer Bryan Adams, creating big hits such as Cuts Like a Knife, Hearts on Fire, Heat of the Night and Somebody. He and Bryan Adams also composed songs recorded by a number of other artists and groups such as Joe Cocker, Neil Diamond, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Loverboy and Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO). As a well-known song-writer and producer, Vallance has also worked with, among others, David Foster, Charles Goodrum, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Scorpions. In 1986 and 1987, he won Juno Awards for Composer of the Year.
