These case files from a local CIC are described by the department as having both "routine administrative value" or having "important administrative, legal value and/or decisions outstanding" as in the case of deportations. However, in neither the size of the files nor in the numbering or arrangement scheme of the records is there any apparent such distinction.

These files contain virtually no original correspondence except letters of reference supporting the prospective landed immigrant or visa seeker. Most files contain carbon copies of the IMM-1000 form (Canadian Immigration Record and Visa) and IMM-1104 form (Assessment Record), and medical forms, sponsorships, financial assistance, etc. Almost all these forms are for computer input.
