The Public Affairs Directorate (PAD) is responsible for National Health and Welfare's public relations with the media and governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as with members of the general public. The PAD, formerly the Information Directorate, issues national news releases, conduct media interviews, advertises departmental activities, and performs publishing and design services on the Department's behalf. The records in this accession contain notes for official "Kits" for the promotion of physical fitness, advertising for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), and the "Dialogue on Drinking" program. Most of the accession is composed of files on recipients of the federal government's "Lifestyle Awards".
