Letter page 4 - Lois Allan - We were there

MG28-I35, vol. 4, World War I Belgian and Serbian War Relief Work Correspondence (1915-1917)
Letter from Flora L. Lugard of the Lady Lugard Hospitality Committee to Mrs. W.T. Herridge of the Ottawa Women's Canadian Club, August 17, 1915
This thank-you letter from a British charity shows a less appealing side of charity work. In the hands of high society ladies, it tended to preserve a strict social order, as seen in Lady Lugard's comments about the services provided to Belgian refugees.
