Published in English under the title Snow Castles (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec: Pirouli, 2005)

Aïxa travels to Montréal from the West Indies three weeks before Christmas. She has to learn to deal with a new climate, a new vocabulary, a new accent, new habits and customs and new foods, all at once. Although on occasion she feels judged, she rediscovers the joys of life thanks to new friends, who soon introduce her to the delights of winter. Aïxa learns to enjoy snow forts instead of sand castles. The book features large brightly coloured illustrations.
