Ice Floes and Frost

Annotated Titles

Du pain, du lait, des oeufs, du beurre
France Adams
Illustrations: Bertrand Nayet
Saint-Boniface, Manitoba: Éditions des Plaines, 2004. 35 p.
ISBN 2896110011
Ages 4 to 8

Readers will be highly entertained by this story by France Adams. The author uses many strategies to help children develop an interest in reading. The clever use of repetition, for example, will both amuse the young reader, and increase his or her interest in the unfolding of the story. The pictures will also help children anticipate the plot, although, unfortunately, the monochrome printing does not do justice to Bertrand Nayet's watercolours.
