The Scots were part of the people known as the Celts -- an ancient people of British and western European background. One of the things they are noted for was their ability to produce intricate knotted designs. Celtic knots have no beginning or end. There are many different patterns of Celtic knots.
Materials
- celtic knot design pattern
- markers, paint, coloured pencils or crayons
- scissors
- glue
- construction paper
- a pencil and ruler
- tassel (optional)

Step 1. Print out a copy of the bookmark design pattern, or make up your own. Colour your design. |

| Step 2. Cut out the design and glue it to a piece of construction paper. |

Step 3. Trace a line around the design, about ¼ inch from the edge. Cut around the edges along the line. If you like, you can add a tassel to your bookmark. |
