User Card Registration Form

Users who wish to undertake research or to consult the holdings in Library and Archives Canada (LAC) facilities must obtain a user card. This card is valid for one year.

To obtain your user card number prior to your visit, you will have to:

Read and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of LAC contained in the User Agreement.
Fill out the online form. You will receive your user card number by email in the next two working days.

To obtain your user card, you will have to:

present yourself to the registration desk just inside the front door of LAC's building.
show a photo ID card.
sign your user card.

This online form allows you also to renew your user card. You can fill out this form in-person at the registration desk as well.
