Photographs made the unique symbols of each Canadian region familiar to the young country's geographically widespread citizens. By gaining access to photographs of Prairie grain elevators, Maritime fishing villages and the iconic architecture of the nation's capital, individuals from across the country could feel connected to events in parts of the country that were far from home.
