Librarian and Archivist of Canada reacts to the passing of former National Archivist Dr. Jean-Pierre Wallot
For immediate release
Ottawa, Ontario, August 30, 2010 - It is with great sadness that I learned today of the passing of Dr. Jean-Pierre Wallot, former National Archivist of Canada. Dr. Wallot will be remembered for his commitment to Canada's archival network and for his distinguished career in which he presided over the creation the National Archives legislation, the spirit of which continues to be embodied in our current legislation. His tireless efforts and oversight in the construction of the Gatineau Preservation Centre and many other achievements contributed to Library and Archives Canada. He also helped build the Canada's archival network. Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Denyse and his family.
