Eric McLean fonds.  - 1865-1950.  - 7 cm of textual records.  - 127 photographs. 

Biographical sketch
Music critic for 30 years for The Montreal Star newspaper, Eric McLean is also a historian and pianist.  President of the Music Critics' Association of America from 1965 to 1966, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1975. 

Scope and content
The fonds contains records pertaining to the professional activities of Eric McLean:  autograph manuscript page of Glenn Gould's String Quartet, containing a dedication to Eric McLean; autograph manuscript (one page) by Jehin-Prume dated September 30, 1865; caricature by Harry Pollack of violinist Calvin Sieb; date book of Hugh Poynter Bell; concert programmes; scrapbook of clippings and programmes which belonged to Daisy Willet, certain items of which concern Emma Albani; photograph of personalities in the music world. 

Immediate source of acquisition:  acquired from Eric McLean in 1986.
