IT 002

IT 002 [Treaty 2] is a manuscript original of a treaty negotiated on May 19, 1790 by Alexander McKee, Deputy Agent of Indian Affairs, and the "Principal Village and War Chiefs of the Ottawa, Chippawa [sic], Pottowatomy [sic], and Huron Indian Nations." Treaty IT 002 purchased the Aborignal interests to lands and resources over a large area of southwestern Ontario north of Lake Erie. There is a coloured version of the treaty that also incorporates a map of the ceded territory.
