Introduction

The Canadian Olympians site provides a searchable images database of Canadian athletes at the Olympics, from the early 1900s through 2004. The images are taken from the Canadian Olympic Committee photograph collection, and were digitized by The Canadian Press. The database currently holds more than 10 000 images. For up-to-date information on Canadian participation in the Olympics, please consult the official website of the Canadian Olympic Committee:

Also provided on the site is "Canadians and the Olympics," an essay by Bruce Kidd, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto. "Canadians and the Olympics" is a history of Olympic amateur sport in Canada.
