Cree Chief Poundmaker
1885, by Oliver Buell

Buell photographed Poundmaker in the summer of 1885, after his followers ransacked the abandoned village of Battleford and defeated the militia at Cut Knife Hill. No doubt, this image was one of the popular souvenir photographs that Buell sold to the Canadian troops.
