Like many of the treaties which preceded it, Treaty 8 included provisions for payment of both a one-time gratuity (referred to in the treaty text as a "present") and an annuity (an annual payment). The gratuity consisted of $32 for each chief, $22 per headman and $12 for each individual First Nation member. This payment is recorded in the 1899 pay list displayed here.
